THE SALVADORS

Kind of a dreary start to the week here in Sydney so why not turn the dial up with some infectiously energetic indie stuff? This comes from Adelaide’s (!) The Salvadors who have been impressing the right people all year with their charming and choppy tunes, specifically Atacam Disco. Check out Rio as well for some surprisingly polished hooks for such an unpolished MP3.

ACID HOUSE KINGS

It’s been too many moons since we last heard from Labrador’s best loved classic pop troupe Acid House Kings. Back when the band were killing in ’05/’06, the blogosphere was a decidedly different place and delightful MP3 blasts from Labrador like the one containing AHK’s new tune, Are We Lovers Or Are We Friends?, would’ve probably held a little more cache. And that’s unfortunate, but the only thing we can do about it is give it its deserved air-time and try and make a little noise about a charming pack of tonally blessed Swedes that are worth your attention.

HANCOCK BASEMENT

November 7th, 2010 by Dave Ruby Howe | 1 Comment | Filed in Hyperbole

Readers might remember me posting on Canberra, Australia heroes Hancock Basement back when the old Blogspot address was still in action (*crickets*) and now I’m happy to report the boys are back again, packing their infectious new gem, One In A Million Does. As well as featuring some spry production and oodles of easy indie charm, the One In A Million Does single has a bad-arse video to boot, looking better than half the big budget videos that come out of this country currently. MP3 and video below.

LITTLE COMETS

I’ve enjoyed the spiky British indie that Little Comets have been rolling with since they broke with One Night In October and am definitely excited about their new single, Isles, an homage to the band’s dreary weathered homeland. It’s a little change of pace from their usual peppy burners but as is the case with Brit pop they always need to show a little range and throw out a ‘ballad’ of sorts to please label people. This one works but hopefully we’ll get more thick riffed guitar pop tunes soon.
