It was many moons ago that everyone grew tired of the Hype Machine popular charts becoming clogged up with remix after remix of ‘unconventional’ songs – need we revisit that Please Mr. Postman dubstep remix? But I can’t help but be charmed by what Sydney producer Altisko has done to Caring Is Creepy (yes, the Shins song). There’s some clever work behind the drum pad with skittering hats and thumping kicks and just an overwhelmingly bliss-y vibe. More songs on his Soundcloud and his Unearthed page.

Sun-kissed, tropical indie pop is the order of the moment among Australian garage blokes but Gold Coast dwellers Oceanics put themselves a few cuts above the rest with their crystal vision for the warmest hooks and instantaneously hummable melodies. Lead single off their Bright People EP, Jukebox has been doing my head in with its cruisey charm and the addition of this Beach Boys cover certainly doesn’t hurt.
